Privacy
Toolzilla has no accounts, sets no cookies and uses no outside analytics or ad trackers. We count how the site is used ourselves, without knowing who you are. This page lists everything we, and the services we rely on, can see when you use it.
What we record
- How pages are used. Your browser tells us which pages you view, what you searched for once you stop typing, which tags you pick, and when a search finds nothing. Each comes with a random number made when the page loads, so we can see the steps of one visit in order, such as a search that led to a template. That number lives only in the open page: it's never stored on your device and is gone when you reload or close the tab.
- Errors. If something goes wrong on a page, your browser tells us the error's message, where in our code it happened, and the page and visit it was in, so we can fix it.
- How you arrived. With a visit's first page we note the name of the site that sent you (such as google.com, never the page), any campaign tags in the address (“utm_source” and the like), and whether you came from a Google or Microsoft ad. We don't keep the ad's own click code.
- Clicks through to a template, its live preview or a site. These links pass through our own address first. We note the time, which template or site it was and whether it was the preview, the page you clicked from, and the visit's number, first page and how it arrived, so we can see which pages and searches are useful.
- Server logs. For each request, our server logs the page asked for (without anything after a “?”), the response and how long it took, to keep the site running, and records the requests it fails, with the page and the error. To stop floods, it counts each IP address's reports and clicks for a minute at a time, in memory, without saving it.
- Email. If you write to us, we keep your email to reply, and for as long as the conversation needs it.
What we don't do
- No accounts, no cookies and no fingerprinting. We don't record your IP address, your browser or your device. Two things are kept in your browser: how far you'd scrolled on each page, so Back returns you to the same place, and, if we update the site while you have it open, a note that a page was reloaded for the new version, so it happens only once. Both stay in that tab and go when you close it.
- We don't sell, rent or share data about you with anyone.
- What we count stays in our own database. No analytics company or ad network gets it.
- Search runs in your browser: when you open a collection, your browser downloads the list of templates and filters it on your device, so the letters you type aren't sent to us one by one. The search you settle on is recorded as described above, and it shows in the page's address.
The services we use
- Railway hosts the site. Like any host, it sees your IP address and browser when you visit, and keeps request logs for a short time to run and protect the service.
- Cloudflare serves the template pictures, and sees the same for those requests.
- Fonts come from our own server, so no font service sees your visit.
When you leave for Framer, Webflow or Awwwards
- Links to Framer carry our partner code, so Framer can credit us if you pay for something there. Framer and its partner program may set their own cookies on Framer's site to do that.
- Every site we link to has its own privacy policy, which applies once you're there.
Your rights
We hold almost nothing that could identify you. To get a copy of an email conversation with us, to have it deleted, or to ask anything about your data, email [email protected]. If you're in the UK or the EU, you can also complain to your data protection authority.
